The effects and particularly instrument set back then was very sparse/basic.Īs far as I recall there was no Halion or even Groove Agent in 2004 so there is no sample content/libraries to be missing from the install.the only thing I can think of as being considered content would be presets Steinberg says no, the installers only contain the SX2 application itself and not necessarily the plugins.Ah.I see your confusion.įWIW my SE3 installation includes what I assume are all the original plugins though I haven't tested they ed it purely for project conversion. Well, what I meant by that is that it's clear SX2 (the version I want to run) does run on the license, but I'm still uncertain about whether I can recreate a 2004-vintage SX2 installation with all the exact same instruments and libraries. In any case, I'm the first to admit that what I should really do is just convert those ancient projects the best I can using other intermediate versions of Cubase, and then fully take the plunge into Cubase 9.
that there is "some SX version available" without giving details.Īgain, I appreciate the help and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I'm still uncertain about dropping $580 just to be able to recreate a 2004-vintage Cubase installation. this thread said yes, but don't worry about content (implying that he/she doesn't know whether the original SX2 content is available or not). Steinberg says no, the installers only contain the SX2 application itself and not necessarily the plugins. Mixed messages Well, what I meant by that is that it's clear SX2 (the version I want to run) does run on the license, but I'm still uncertain about whether I can recreate a 2004-vintage SX2 installation with all the exact same instruments and libraries. So you asked Steinberg if you can run SX3 on the current license and they responded without clarifying?
Just checked and they have very old versions they have cubase sx1 for download in the unsupported menu. If you want to have a look at previous versions check them out here. I have cubase 9 and cubase 8.5 installed on my computer and i keep 8.5 because it runs 32bit plugins as well as 64bit but remember cubase 9 only runs 64bit plugins unless you buy jbridge.
Yep means exactlly that you can download any version going back too about 4.and dont worry about content because if you buy full version of cubase 9 it gives you all the content anyway some of it is from previous versions but nearlly all of the instruments are included and a few are available for free from steinbergs download ems like lm7 are not worth instaling because you get groove agent 4le with cubase 9 and thats brilliant and you get halionsonic 3se now and that contains all the previous content from halionsonic1/2 and most of the old fx plugins have now been updated and are miles better than before.īelieve me the content included in cubase 9 beats anything in previous versions after a few weeks using c9 its hard to go back too very old versions.
